Who we are.
The Friends of Largo Nature Parks is an independent group of nature-enthusiasts that help provide the public with an opportunity to explore and learn about the natural world. We host a variety of events throughout the year to engage and inspire those curious to learn more - including, but not limited to family camp-outs, the 5k Turtle Trot, and Nature in the Classroom. The Nature in the Classroom program reaches out to nearly 5,000 kids in Pinellas County Schools each year!
Our birds of prey call the George C. McGough Nature Park their home. These birds have injuries or conditions that prevent their return to the wild, but they live colorful lives with us at the park as ambassadors for their species. Not only do they team up with volunteers to reach out and educate, the birds also provide a therapeutic experience for wounded veterans through the Avian Veteran Alliance.
We are financially responsible for the Birds of Prey program. Your donations are what keeps us going. The Friends of the Largo Nature Parks is a 501(c) 3 organization registered with the State of Florida, and - yes - your donation is tax deductible within context of the law.
