We do miss getting out of the coop and providing our special brand of educational outreach. Not only is it a labor of love, but it is one of our main ways of funding our bird of prey program. Donations are what keeps us going. They're our lifeblood.
Thank you so much to those of you who have donated over the last few months. It means everything to us that you had us in mind when making that contribution. You are very much appreciated! <3
Who we are.
The Friends of Largo Nature Parks is an independent group that helps provide the public with an opportunity to explore the natural world. We host a variety of events throughout the year to engage and inspire those curious to learn more - including, but not limited to family camp-outs, the 5k Turtle Trot, and Nature in the Classroom. The Nature in the Classroom program reaches out to nearly 5,000 kids in Pinellas County Schools each year!
Currently, twenty-four beautiful birds of prey call the George C. McGough Nature Park their home. These birds have injuries or conditions that prevent their return to the wild, but they live colorful lives with us at the park as ambassadors for their species. Not only do they team up with volunteers to reach out and educate, the birds also provide a therapeutic experience for wounded veterans through the Avian Veteran Alliance.
We are financially responsible for the Birds of Prey program. Your donations are what keeps us going. The Friends of the Largo Nature Parks is a 501(c) 3 organization registered with the State of Florida, and - yes - your donation is tax deductible within context of the law.
