We may be small, but we need a ride, too.
Our names are Spice, Dilbert, and Goliath, and we are Eastern Screech Owls. Like the other resident birds of prey at the park, we can't live out in the wild and do the jobs we were assigned to do -- like, keep the cockroach population under control in your yard (those are one of our favorite foods!). So, we've been given the opportunity to do another very important job, which is to serve as ambassadors of our species.
It is very necessary for us to get out and interact with the public. We need to be able to visit schools, nursing homes, and very importantly - our veterans.
In order to do this, we need transportation. We are currently raising funds to purchase a vehicle for the volunteers of our park so that we can continue to go out and visit these places! Our goal is $25,000... and we have a long way to go.
Please consider donating to our cause.
my name is jasper. i am a young red-shouldered hawk...
... at The Narrows located in Largo, Florida.
As you can see from my photo I am missing half of my wing.
Frankly, I can't fly, I need a ride.
While the volunteers at The Narrows are wonderful people, they cannot afford to give myself and my many friends at The Narrows the ride we need. We are all ambassadors for our species reaching out to educate thousands of people every year on the subject of conservation and general species information.
We need a good new (or gently used) van to do our job.
I am asking if you would be willing to part with a little bit of the green bits of paper humans are so fond of to provide for our need so we can do our job.
If you are a business, and make a contribution of $1,000 or more, the volunteers will be happy to add your company's logo to the van for three years as their way of saying thank you.
Thank you so much for your consideration. Be sure if you're in the area to come visit me and get a good photo by my side.
